When Your Life No Longer Feels Like Your Own

Sometimes everything changes – from one day to the next, or gradually over months and years. People lose their home, their language, and their sense of orientation. Not only outwardly, but inwardly as well. Familiar structures fall away, and the life they once knew can seem out of reach.

Whether through displacement, migration, violence, or other difficult experiences, many people carry within them experiences that leave them feeling estranged from themselves and from their own life story. It can feel as though one has fallen out of one’s own life. One may still be functioning – perhaps. But the connection is missing: inner grounding, and the feeling of truly being present.

In such moments, spaces are needed in which rest and reorientation can become possible – in a way that preserves dignity, supports stability, and places our shared humanity at the centre.

Many people nowadays live with experiences of displacement, migration, or difficult transitions. They are often navigating complex life situations shaped by uncertainty, administrative challenges, cultural upheaval, or previous traumatic experiences.

These challenges do not only make everyday life more difficult; they often also affect integration. Integration is more than learning a language or finding one’s way through practical systems. People coming from difficult contexts often also need inner support – stability, orientation, and at times psychological guidance – in order to arrive in a new life at all.

The services outlined below were developed with precisely this in mind. They offer support in stabilising everyday life, provide relief, and encourage new orientation. At their core are dignity, self-determination, and the strengthening of inner resources.

The consultations and workshops take place at Pangea Haus in Wilmersdorf and can also be offered in Russian or English (additionally to German), depending on need.
